Up for your consideration is a Bing & Grondahl (B & G) porcelain large mug decorated with a gold image of the Santa Marie and the words Santa Maria 1492 on the front. On the back side, the year 1978 appears in gold lettering. Between these is a ship's wheel. This is the first edition in a series of 6 mugs that celebrate famous explorers.
The mug stands 4 7/8 inches tall, measures 3 5/8 inches across, and weighs 15 1/2 ounces.
The bottom is marked in gold: Copenhagen
Porcelain - 3 buildings - B & G - Made in Denmark - 8131/9221 - FIRST EDITION - No. 1 OF A SERIES OF 6. The letter H appears above the other marks.
The mug is in excellent, like-new condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. There are no signs of wear or use.
