Ellingsen was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1967, but not until the 63rd round. In 1974 he was traded to the Cleveland Indians for Pedro Guerrero, who went on to be a hitting star for LA and St. Louis. Ellingsen pitched for Cleveland in 1974. In 16 games he went 1-1 with an 3.21 ERA. He spent all of 1975 at Triple-A for Cleveland, but finished at 4-12. He retired at that point at the age of 26. Ellingsen is now 73 years old, living in Laguna Hills, California.
