Up for sale is a Chinese contemporary field sketching ink painting on paper of a bridge scenery, dated likely 1950s.
The painting depicts the
苏州虎邱
(Suzhou Huqiu) with a stream-overriding stone bridge in an arch shape on which some people are leisurely standing, watching and talking. Under the high bridge extends the rocks-like walls at both sides of the stream, where a person is standing closely.
Upper left shows a pagoda tower with birds flying around and a house hidden in the plants. Signed and sealed lower left by Li Keran,
李可染
(1907–1989),
the painting is with fabric borders and framed under glass. The artist’s
son, also an artist,
signed on the fabric border at right in
calligraphy and sealed to authenticate that the painting was truly made by his father.
About the artist: Li Keran was a renowned contemporary Chinese painter whose art pieces have been auctioned at some famous auction houses including Christie’s and Sotheby’s.
Measures: Frame, 26” long x 19 ½”; Painting, 18” long x 13 ½”. Condition: Excellent without any damages or repairs.
