    Description

    Eddie Joost (1916-2011) was a right-handed hitting shortstop for 17 seasons in the majors for the Braves (1943 & 1945), Phil. A's (1947-1954), and Red Sox (1955). Joost was a 2-time All-Star, and played in 1574 games, hitting .239, with 1339 hits, 134 HRs, and 601 RBIs. He had 2 seasons of 20+ HRs, and his best season in 1949, hitting .263, with career high 23 HRs, and 81 RBIs, made the All-Star team, and finished 13th in MVP. He appeared in the 1940 W.S., for the Reds, hitting .200 in 7 games. Joost was player/manager for the Athletices in their last season in Philadelphia in 1954, before moving to Kansas City, compiling a record of 51-103.
