    Description

    Played for the 1939 St. Louis Cardinals, 1940-41 Brooklyn Dodgers, 1947-48 Philadelphia Athletics, 1949 New York Giants.  Batted .199 in 403 at bats in his 7 years in the major leagues.  He was a catcher.  He also managed the San Francisco Giants 1965-69, Chicago Cubs 1977-79 Winning 605 and losing 521 in his 7 years as a manager.
