    Description

    Jerry Walker (b.1939) is a former right-handed pitcher for 8 seasons with the Orioles (1957-1960), KC A's (1961-1962), and Indians (1963-1964). He appeared in 190 games, with a record of 37-44, 4 shut-outs, 13 saves, a 4.36 ERA, and hit .230, with 4 HRs, and 21 RBIs.  Walker began his career as a starting pitcher, and finished as a reliever. He had his best season during 1959, with a career best record of 11-10, 2 shut-outs, 4 saves, a 2.92 ERA, and made both All-Star teams. He was the youngest pitcher ever to start an All-Star game. Moved to the bull-pen, Walker's last of his 13 career saves was on 7-13-63, pitching in relief, and saving Early Wynn's 300th and final career victory. After his playing days, he was pitching coach for the Yankees (1981-1982), Astros (1983-1985), Asst. G.M of the Tigers 91992), G.M. of the Tigers (1993)worked in the Cardinals' front office (1995-2007), and V.P. and Asst to the G.M of the Reds (2009-2014).
