This item in my EBAY store is a NORTHWOOD "GRAPE & CABLE" AMETHYST CARNIVAL GLASS LARGE COVERED FOOTED COMPOTE. This NORTHWOOD amethyst "GRAPE & CABLE" large ftd. covered compote is antique glass that has survived well over 100 years of survival and because of age has now become a beautiful family heirloom piece of glass; This NORTHWOOD amethyst "GRAPE & CABLE" large ftd. covered compote lid is marked with the famous NORTHWOOD trade mark with the "N" in a circle with a line underneath the letter "N"; This NORTHWOOD "GRAPE & CABLE" pattern is the largest carnival glass pattern produced and my info say there are over forty table ware items produced in this "GRAPE & CABLE" pattern and naturally all carnival glass colors are also produced in this NORTHWOOD "GRAPE & CABLE" pattern; This NORTHWOOD amethyst "GRAPE & CABLE" large ftd. covered compote is large, heavy and very beautiful, a lot of glass for your money, this is a table novelty item that is seldom found and even offered for sale, it seems as though everyone would like to have one of these compotes; I may add that this
NORTHWOOD "GRAPE & CABLE" AMETHYST CARNIVAL GLASS LARGE FOOTED COVERED COMPOTE is an early NORTHWOOD vintage antique amethyst carnival glass "COVERED COMPOTE" that has been used and displayed over many years and still remains in beautiful heirloom condition, surely the couple of people who have once owned this American beauty surely cherrished this piece of NORTHWOOD antique glass according to the condition this large ftd. covered compote remains in today; It did not matter what angle or position I photographed this "GRAPE & CABLE" covered compote the COLOR and iridescence is seen in my photos taken and that is what carnival glass is all about................COLOR and iridescence; This NORTHWOOD amethyst "COVERED COMPOTE" that I have here does have the early carnival glass era characteristics of the early carnival glass making process having stress marks, straw marks, and air bubbles sometimes seen inside the glass of early carnival glass, these characteristics are in the glass of this NORTHWOOD amethyst "GRAPE & CABLE" large ftd. "COVERED COMPOTE" that I have here and are shown in the numerous photos taken, any questions at all please e-mail me;
This large American beauty has beautiful COLOR and iridescence on the inside bowl of this ftd. compote, my photos show the COLOR and iridescence on the lid, compote bottom, and around the stem of this compote, a great item to own; There is no roughness to any of the four "GRAPE" bunches that surround the outside bottom, the lid, or even the lid finial in this beautiful "GRAPE & CABLE" pattern, the leaves are "STIPPLED" causing this American beauty to shine, one beautiful carnival glass item to own; This NORTHWOOD amethyst "GRAPE & CABLE" carnival glass "COVEDRED FTD.
