    Description

    Frederic "Rick" Reichardt (b.1943), was a 2-sport star athlete at Wisconsin, a full-back on the Football team, that played in the 1963 Rose Bowl, and right-handed hitting outfielder. He was inducted into the College Baseball HOF in 2015. Reichardt signed a bonus of 0,000 to played for the expansion Angels in 1964. He would be the last bonus baby, as the major leagues instituted a major league draft to begin in 1965. He played 11 seasons for the Angels (1964-1970), Senators (1970), White Sox (1971-1973), and K.C. Royals (1973-1974). He had 5 seasons of 15+ HRs, with his best season in 1968, hitting .255, with career best 21 HRs, and 73 RBIs. Early in his career, Reichardt had a kidney removed, after suffering from kidney disease, which would effect his development in the majors, and ultimately shorten his career, ending at age 31.
